Why spend 15 days trekking when you can witness the full majesty of the Himalayas in a single, breathtaking morning?

Our signature Grand Everest & Gokyo Heli Tour is the ultimate high-altitude aerial journey, meticulously curated for discerning travelers with limited time. In just five hours, this premium helicopter experience seamlessly weaves together the two crown jewels of the Everest region: the shimmering, turquoise Gokyo Lakes and the unmatched, close-up panorama from Kalapatthar.

Soar alongside four of the planet’s legendary 8,000-meter peaks and capture the absolute best of the Khumbu from a perspective few ever get to see.

Journey Highlights

  • Kalapatthar Touchdown (≈5,550m / 18,208 ft): Land directly on the iconic Kalapatthar viewpoint for a thrilling 10-to-15-minute ground experience. This exclusive stop puts you face-to-face with Mount Everest (8,848.86 m) for the ultimate, unobstructed photographic vantage point.
  • Gokyo Lakes Serenity (≈4,790m / 15,715 ft): Step out onto the shores of Dudh Pokhari, the largest of the sacred Gokyo Lakes. Enjoy 20 to 30 minutes of pristine alpine tranquility, framed by the massive Ngozumpa Glacier and the towering peak of Cho Oyu (8,201 m).
  • Everest Base Camp Flyover: Feel the scale of human ambition as you circle directly above the legendary Everest Base Camp (≈5,364m) and the treacherous, shifting crevasses of the Khumbu Icefall.
  • The Four Giants Panorama: Feast your eyes on a simultaneous, sweeping view of four of the world’s highest peaks: Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu.
  • Gourmet Mountain Breakfast: Conclude your high-altitude adventure with an optional luxury breakfast at the renowned Hotel Everest View (≈3,880m). Sip coffee and dine while overlooking the striking ridges of Ama Dablam and Mount Everest.

High-Altitude Safety & Weight Regulations

Your safety is our absolute, uncompromising priority. Operating helicopters at extreme altitudes requires precise weight management and strict adherence to aviation protocols:

  • High-Altitude Shuttle Protocol: Due to thin air and reduced lift capacity above 4,000 meters, the helicopter's maximum payload for the highest sectors is strictly capped at 250 kg (a maximum of 2–3 passengers). For groups larger than three, the pilot will seamlessly shuttle guests in smaller pairs/trios from Pheriche or Syangboche to the highest viewpoints while the rest of the group relaxes safely below.
  • Strict Ground Time Limits: To minimize the risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), ground time at the highest altitude (Kalapatthar) is strictly limited to 10–15 minutes.
  • Medical Readiness: For your peace of mind, emergency supplemental oxygen and comprehensive first-aid kits are standard equipment on every single flight.

Premium Booking Options

1. Private Charter

Secure the entire helicopter exclusively for your group. A private charter offers total scheduling flexibility, complete privacy, and is the ideal choice for groups of 4 to 5 travelers looking to share the high-altitude shuttle costs.

2. Group Joining (Shared Flight)

Our most cost-effective option allows individual travelers or couples to pool together and share the helicopter cost. Group availability is subject to total weight distribution and open flight slots.

Important Note

Required Permits

Entry into the Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park is mandatory. These costs are typically not included in the flight price and must be budgeted for:

  • Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit.
  • Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit.

Trip Itinerary

Upon arrival at the TIA Domestic Terminal, you will meet our representative who will conduct the pre-flight briefing and mandatory weight check.

Scenic flight (approx. 45 min) over the Nepali hills to Lukla (≈2,860m) for a mandatory refueling stop.

Fly into the Khumbu region, passing Namche Bazaar, and make a technical stop at Pheriche (4,371m)  or Syangboche (3780) Breakfast: Optional) to manage weight for the high-altitude section.

Passengers are shuttled in smaller groups (2-3 pax) from the lower altitude stop to Kalapatthar for the 10–15 minute landing and the EBC Flyover.

After the EBC shuttle, the helicopter flies across the Ngozumpa Glacier to land near the main Gokyo Lake (≈4,790m) for a dedicated photo and sightseeing stop (20–30 mins).

Fly to the Hotel Everest View (≈3,962m) for a relaxed hot breakfast (optional) with the best mountain views (typically 45–60 minutes).

Fly from Syangboche/Lukla back to Kathmandu.

Land safely at TIA and transfer back to your hotel, concluding the tour.

General Information

This is the most comprehensive single-day helicopter tour in the Everest region. Unlike standard tours that visit only one location, this premium experience includes a landing at Kalapatthar viewpoint (5,550m), a scenic flyover of Everest Base Camp and the Khumbu Icefall, a landing near the turquoise Gokyo Lake (4,790m), and views of four of the world's 8,000-meter peaks: Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. It essentially compresses a 15-day trek into a 5-hour luxury aerial adventure.

The entire tour takes approximately 5 hours from start to finish, including departure from Kathmandu, refueling stops, multiple landings at Kalapatthar and Gokyo Lake, the Everest Base Camp flyover, and an optional breakfast stop at Hotel Everest View. The actual flight time is broken into segments, with dedicated ground time at each major viewpoint.

This tour offers the rare opportunity to see four of the world's fourteen 8,000-meter peaks in one journey: Mount Everest (8,848.86m, the world's highest), Lhotse (8,516m, the 4th highest), Makalu (8,485m, the 5th highest), and Cho Oyu (8,201m, the 6th highest). You'll also see iconic peaks like Ama Dablam, Nuptse, and Pumori throughout the flight.

Yes, you will land at both locations. The tour includes a 10-15 minute landing at Kalapatthar (5,550m), offering the closest possible photographic viewpoint of Mount Everest, and a 20-30 minute landing near the main Gokyo Lake (Dudh Pokhari at 4,790m), where you can enjoy views of Cho Oyu and the massive Ngozumpa Glacier. The only flyover is at Everest Base Camp itself, as helicopters cannot land there due to terrain constraints.

While trekking the Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes routes takes 15-18 days and requires significant physical fitness, the helicopter tour condenses this experience into a single 5-hour journey. You get aerial perspectives impossible from the ground, visit both Gokyo and Kalapatthar in one trip (which trekkers rarely do together), avoid acclimatization risks, and experience luxury comfort. It's ideal for time-constrained travelers, those unable to trek due to physical limitations, or anyone seeking a premium, once-in-a-lifetime Himalayan adventure with maximum views in minimum time. The value lies in accessibility, comprehensive coverage, and unique aerial viewpoints.

Weather and Safety

Everest Base Camp sits on the moving Khumbu Glacier at approximately 5,364 meters, making it unsuitable for helicopter landings due to unstable terrain, crevasses, and safety regulations. Instead, the tour includes a dramatic low-altitude flyover circling directly over the colorful tent city and the treacherous Khumbu Icefall, providing spectacular aerial photography opportunities that trekkers never see.

At extreme altitudes above 5,000 meters, helicopter lift capacity is significantly reduced due to thin air. The helicopter can only carry 2-3 passengers (approximately 240-250 kg total) per high-altitude shuttle to Kalapatthar. If your group has 4-5 people, the pilot will shuttle groups sequentially from a lower staging point like Pheriche (4,371m) or Syangboche (3,780m). All passengers experience every landing and flyover—it just happens in smaller batches for safety.

The maximum altitude is Kalapatthar at approximately 5,550 meters (18,208 feet). While this is extremely high, the risk of altitude sickness is minimized through controlled exposure with only 10-15 minutes of ground time at the highest point. Emergency oxygen is available on board, and the tour is structured with strategic refueling stops at lower altitudes. This tour is recommended only for physically healthy individuals without respiratory or cardiac conditions.

The helicopter can accommodate 4-5 passengers total for the overall journey. However, due to high-altitude weight restrictions, only 2-3 passengers can be shuttled at a time to the extreme altitude landing at Kalapatthar. Mandatory weight checks are conducted before departure to ensure safe operation. Solo travelers can join group sharing tours, or you can book a private charter for your exclusive group.

Dress in multiple warm layers as temperatures at Kalapatthar can drop well below freezing. Essential items include thermal base layers, an insulated down or puffer jacket, windproof outer shell, warm gloves, beanie or warm hat, sunglasses (UV protection crucial at altitude), sunscreen, comfortable closed-toe shoes or light hiking boots, and a small daypack with your camera and extra batteries. Keep your daypack light (2-3 kg maximum) due to helicopter weight restrictions.

The optimal seasons are Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November). Spring offers clear skies, blooming rhododendrons at lower elevations, and stable weather conditions. Autumn provides the clearest mountain visibility after the monsoon season with crisp air and excellent photographic conditions. Winter flights are possible but can be very cold, while monsoon season (June-August) experiences frequent weather cancellations.

The tour involves reaching extreme altitudes of 5,550 meters, so physical health is crucial. Elderly travelers must be medically cleared and in good health—no strenuous trekking is involved, but altitude exposure is significant. Children are allowed under parental supervision, considering altitude sensitivity. Anyone with serious respiratory conditions, heart problems, or recent surgeries should consult their doctor before booking. Pregnant women are generally not recommended for high-altitude flights.

Booking, Payment and Policies

Breakfast at Hotel Everest View (3,962m/13,000ft) is optional or included depending on your chosen package. The breakfast stop typically lasts 45-60 minutes and offers hot meals with panoramic views of Ama Dablam, Everest, and surrounding peaks. This is often described as breakfast "on top of the world" at one of the highest-altitude hotels globally. Confirm with your booking agent whether this is included or available as an add-on.

You'll need two main permits to enter the Sagarmatha (Everest) region: the Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit and the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit. The good news is these permits are typically handled by Heli Hub Nepal and included in your tour package, so you don't need to arrange them separately. All permit costs and processing are managed on your behalf.

Himalayan helicopter flights are highly weather-dependent, and safety is always the top priority. If weather conditions are unsuitable (poor visibility, high winds, storms, or cloud cover), your tour will be rescheduled for the next available day with suitable weather. If rescheduling isn't possible due to your travel plans, you'll receive a full refund according to the booking and cancellation policy. Morning departures (6:30-7:00 AM) typically have the most stable weather windows.
